We had a great snowmaking run lasting 36 hours! Combined with a few inches of natural snow, we are able to provide the most snow, best coverage and best surface conditions in Southern California. The forecast for the rest of the week shows sunny skies and mild temps, making for great skiing and snowboarding weather! Both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are 100% open, with 55 runs, 26 available lifts and more than 200 terrain park features. We received 3 inches of fresh snow last night and also had a great night of snowmaking! We’ll continue to make snow throughout the day and as long as conditions permit. Today’s forecast is cool with a high of 30. Flurries have tapered off and we’re looking at mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day. With a packed powder to powder surface and excellent coverage, it’s a great time to extend your weekend and spend a day on the slopes!
This may come as a surprise to many but when ESPN decided to have the first ever Winter X Games they came right here to Snow Summit! The inaugural Winter X Games were held in 1997. It was televised to 198 countries and 38,000 spectators attended the four day event. Winter X has changed locations but it is still all about growing the industry and the wonderful sports involved in it. Skiing and snowboarding may be classified as action sports now that the X Games have made competitions out of them, but the simplicity remains. By simplicity we mean the fun times anyone can have by heading to the slopes. Lets face it 99% of us are no Shaun White!
