It’s Friday Fun Day! Our current snow conditions are machine groomed loose granular with the expectations of natural snow. We are open today from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. We have good news for all you skiers and boarders! We are expecting a storm to roll in today which should provide us with at least 2-4″ of natural snow. Be prepared as our weather can change at any time. Always carry chains when driving in the mountains during winter. Bear Mountain plans reopening tomorrow, Saturday December 13th.
Forecasters are sticking to their guns as of this morning and still calling for a major winter storm to roll through the region with the kind of cooler, drier air behind it that we love to make snow in! Things may get pretty stormy for a while. The National Weather Service predicts wind gusts could hit 50 mph as a front moves through. Behind it- natural snow and great snowmaking conditions! Stay tuned for updates! Skiers and riders at Snow Summit Mountain Resort this morning will find a surface of machine groomed, hard pack which will soften as the day goes on. Chair 1 will be opening at 9 am delivering guests to our summit with top-to-bottom skiing and riding via Miracle Mile and Chair 8 will service our beginner area at 9 am. Lifts close this afternoon at 4 pm. Have a great day!
^^^^^ Do you see that? There is snow in our future! Forecasts are calling for up to nine inches on the mountain! Conditions next week should be ripe for more snowmaking. So we’re looking at snow on snow! It will start as rain on Thursday (great for the reservoirs!) before the temperature drops and we get glorious snow. Bear Mountain is now scheduled to open for daily operations on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8:30 am. Bear will open with Chair 1, but if conditions improve we could get Chair 9 going, as well! Keep thinking snow, it’s working!
