Opening day is tomorrow!

Snow Summit is kicking off the Thanksgiving holiday with our season opening tomorrow.  Come on Wednesday to enjoy all the opening festivities, like raffles, prizes and games. Big Bear’s own DJ Slipmatt will be on hand for live music. Skiers and snowboarders can ride Chair 1 and check out the terrain features we’ve been preparing just for you. We expect to have approximately 12 terrain features groomed, including beginner terrain. Beginners and seasoned riders alike can sign up for lessons when you arrive. We have plenty of school seats available!

Got snow, ski or snowboard as early as this Wednesday

  Thanksgiving is coming and here in Southern California it looks like warmer temperatures with windy conditions are ahead of us. The warm winds were actually really cold before it travels down the mountain. The cold winds combined with the dry humidity makes for excellent conditions when it comes to making real snow. Just in case your kids ask you how snow is made, we have a video from the Travel Channel that explains the process. While you’re hot in the lower elevations, we’re enjoying cool snow making weather at Snow Summit. We’ve been blowing real snow on and off since November 16th, as we gear up for opening day on Wednesday, November 26th. Our sister resort, Bear Mountain will open on Friday, November 28th. Snowmaking continues at Snow Summit Resort…Skiing and Riding Continues at Mammoth!!!

The Snowmaking Crew has been hard at work this week at both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit Resorts! As we look forward to this week it looks like conditions may cooperate for more snowmaking and there is even a chance of natural snow in the weekend forecast!
