It all started back in 1988 with a couple of hungry guys with shovels. Snowboarding was just starting to progress, and the industry needed something new to capture a bigger audience. All it took was a hand dug halfpipe on the top of chair 6 near The Wall and the lifestyle was created. The simplicity of the boom brought much attention to snowboarding, and from there, our terrain park development began.
The halfpipe was a huge success, but we needed more. The development of jumps, hips, and jibs was introduced in the early to mid 90’s, opening many doors and creating opportunities. This progression attracted top riders from around the world and shaped an avenue for us to host such contests as the Nixon Jibfest, Vans Triple Crown, Transworld Team Challenge, and the very first X Games.
By the early 2000’s, snowboarding was a global understanding and Snow Summit was a leader amongst the snowboarding world. Presently, Snow Summit’s terrain parks are located on the world famous Westridge run, ZZYZX, and Ego Trip, while the Family Park sits quietly to the west catering to beginner park riders and kids.
There are features designed for every rider’s specific needs. Whether it’s your first time or you’re JP Walker back for a visit, Snow Summit terrain parks are bound to keep you entertained.
Both resorts maintain terrain features nightly to provide the most consistent surfaces and shapes possible. Our talented Park Staff of over 60 strong makes sure you will experience the most innovative and best maintained freestyle features.
To this day Snow Summit and Bear Mountain continue to lead in terrain park development.
