6 Inches Of Fresh Snow And Snowmaking Last Night! - 5:46am, 2/23/2015
Today is the day. You need to decide if you are in for some fresh tracks- so let’s get you the facts:
We received 6″ of fresh natural snow last night and while it was falling we fired up the snowmaking system and added to it.
The NWS calls for continued snow showers throughout the day with an additional 1-3 inches on top of the 6″ we already have. A high near 37 is expected today.
Lifts Open at 8:30 am – skiers and riders may find some trails closed while snowmaking takes place today.
All Routes to Big Bear are currently under Restriction – Vehicles must have chains or 4WD with snow tires on all four wheels.
We will make snow as long as we can today- we will pick it back up tonight and hope to get another night or two of snowmaking before the chance of more natural snow on Friday.
There you have it- winter rolled back into town!
Another Great Weekend In The Books - 1:29pm, 2/22/2015
While many resorts have closed in Southern California, we are still skiing and riding 32 trails at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Not only that, but we are hosting crucial late season races that help our race program skiers and riders qualify for regional finals and NorAms. We had hundreds at The Scene for the Power 106 Snowed In party today featuring Flo-Rida and Jordin Sparks. On top of that, if you could not make it to us this weekend we made sure to be a part of bringing the slopes to you with Air + Style in Pasadena. You can count on us to bring you the best skiing and riding in So Cal.
Now for the great news; It’s SNOWING! We are about to officially enter a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service from 4 pm today through 4 pm tomorrow. The warning calls for heavy, steady snowfall overnight….. Oh yeaaaaaaah! Even better news; we should be able to make snow as the storm finishes up. There are no plans of closing around here.
See you for the freshies tomorrow!
