6 Inches Of Fresh Snow And Snowmaking Last Night! - 5:46am, 2/23/2015

Today is the day. You need to decide if you are in for some fresh tracks- so let’s get you the facts:

We received 6″ of fresh natural snow last night and while it was falling we fired up the snowmaking system and added to it.

The NWS calls for continued snow showers throughout the day with an additional 1-3 inches on top of the 6″ we already have. A high near 37 is expected today.

Lifts Open at 8:30 am – skiers and riders may find some trails closed while snowmaking takes place today.

All Routes to Big Bear are currently under Restriction – Vehicles must have chains or 4WD with snow tires on all four wheels.

We will make snow as long as we can today- we will pick it back up tonight and hope to get another night or two of snowmaking before the chance of more natural snow on Friday.

There you have it- winter rolled back into town!

While many resorts have closed in Southern California, we are still skiing and riding 32 trails at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Not only that, but we are hosting crucial late season races that help our race program skiers and riders qualify for regional finals and NorAms. We had hundreds at The Scene for the Power 106 Snowed In party today featuring Flo-Rida and Jordin Sparks. On top of that, if you could not make it to us this weekend we made sure to be a part of bringing the slopes to you with Air + Style in Pasadena. You can count on us to bring you the best skiing and riding in So Cal.

Now for the great news; It’s SNOWING! We are about to officially enter a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service from 4 pm today through 4 pm tomorrow. The warning calls for heavy, steady snowfall overnight….. Oh yeaaaaaaah! Even better news; we should be able to make snow as the storm finishes up. There are no plans of closing around here.

See you for the freshies tomorrow!

Good Morning! There Is A Lot Happening Today So Let’s Get To It…And It’s Going To Snow! - 5:14am, 2/22/2015

We woke to a pleasant forecast this morning. As of 5 am the National Weather Service is calling for snow to begin falling late in the afternoon and snow through Tuesday with accumulations of 3 to 7 inches in the base area and higher amounts on the summit. In addition it looks as if we may be able to make snow as the storm wraps up. We’re going back into winter.

Day Two of Air + Style is taking place today at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Yesterday was a blast with some unbelievable competition and music literally filling the air in Pasadena. If you can’t make it to the mountain today but would still love to see some of the best skiing you will see this year, while listening to some of today’s hottest musical acts, then head over to the Rose Bowl for the final day and night of Air + Style.

Grab lunch today at the Slopeside BBQ and Eatery and enjoy the tunes provided by K-EARTH 101LA from 12 pm to 2.

Today is also the Power 106 Snowed In Party On The Mountain at Bear. Head over for live performances from Flo-Rida, Jordin Sparks and your Power 106 hosts Yesi Ortiz & Liane V. Things get rolling at noon. Don’t miss this scene at The Scene.

So come join us for another fun day in the mountains. While other resorts have closed or are just barely hanging onto a trail or two we are still offering the best skiing and riding in Southern California and the coolest events around. You’ll find 26 lifts operating and 32 trails covered with 132 jibs, jumps and features for your enjoyment. With the snow in the forecast tonight and plans to make more – there are no plans of closing here…
