As of 8:00 pm we have received 1-3 inches of new snow. It is still snowing and we hope to wake up to a powder day on Friday. At this time all roads leading into Big Bear are open with chains required on all vehicles except 4WD with snow tires. It will take a little bit of extra time to get here but, tomorrow is going to be an EPIC day of skiing and snowboarding. Thanks to lower temperatures we were able to resume snowmaking last night. We are now making snow in the Family Fun Park off of Chair 9, upper Perfect Pitches and Sugar Pine off of Chair 10 and we have closed upper Timber Ridge today to continue snowmaking.
Today is opening day at Bear Mountain! Chair 9 will be open top to bottom with 4 snow features and 23 jibs. The trails will include Upper Park Run, Expressway, The Gulch, and Lower Park Run. Be aware that the runs off Chair 9 provide intermediate to advanced terrain and features. There will be NO beginner trails or lifts available on opening day as Chair 9 will be the only chair open. Early Season rates are in effect and ticket sales will be limited due to limited terrain. For more information on opening day festivities visit Bear Mountain’s Website. With over 56 hours of snowmaking we have been opening more lifts and runs. Today Chair 9 opens accessing Cruiser and Sundown. Chair 10 opens tomorrow serving Perfect Pitches, SugarPine and SideShow. Snowmaking has been concentrated on Lower Westridge which is one of the next runs to open and additional jibs and snow features will be available soon. All roads into Big Bear are open with no chains required.
