Sunday is rounding out an excellent weekend here at Snow Summit. The 8-11″ of natural snow have given us the jumping off point we needed to start making snow all over the mountain. Skiers and riders today are no doubt noticing the snow machines going nonstop on both sides of the resort. The fresh snow is going right on top of our 10-20″ base of machine-groomed, hard packed powder and should be setting us up to open more runs this week! Bear Mountain has taken advantage of the great conditions. Not only are they officially open for daily operations, but their ski and snowboard school is open, they’ve opened yet another run and have 21 “Bear Built” features today. There’s even more good news on the horizon: more snow is expected next week! If you’re in the mood for a white Christmas, Snow Summit is the place to be. Tomorrow […]
Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are the ONLY SoCal resorts open for you to enjoy all the fresh snow! We got 8-11″ yesterday and have been making snow since about 10 pm last night. Our snowmakers are working very hard to get more runs open and features built. We are hoping to have Summit Run and Westridge open VERY SOON. Our base is back up to 10-20″ of machine-groomed packed powder – the best conditions of the year! At Bear Mountain they got Chairs 1 and 9 open today, and plan to have Chair 7 open tomorrow! Bear will also have their ski school open tomorrow. As of 9:30 am, CalTrans reports that chains are still required for Highways 18, 38 and 330. Drive carefully! Also, our first night session has been rescheduled to Friday, Dec. 19. Early season pricing is still in effect, but please note that the prices […]
^^^^^ Do you see that? There is snow in our future! Forecasts are calling for up to nine inches on the mountain! Conditions next week should be ripe for more snowmaking. So we’re looking at snow on snow! It will start as rain on Thursday (great for the reservoirs!) before the temperature drops and we get glorious snow. Bear Mountain is now scheduled to open for daily operations on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8:30 am. Bear will open with Chair 1, but if conditions improve we could get Chair 9 going, as well! Keep thinking snow, it’s working!
