Our operations crew just came in with the official snowfall analysis and the accumulation is up to 4 inches now. The National Weather Service is predicting additional snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches overnight. That is excellent news because our water collection facility we call Big Bear Lake can hold this water until we can make snow again. If you’re asking, will the snowmaking ever stop? Not if we can help it. If you had some obligations to tend to, like a baby shower or a birthday party and you missed out on your Saturday in the mountains, there is hope. Our night session this evening will start at 3 pm until 9:30 pm. All roads to Big Bear are open with no restrictions so it’ll be an easy drive up to the mountains. National Weather Service is predicting 100% chance of snow today that should continue through tomorrow morning. If you’re planning on coming here for the NYE party, leave now and beat the storm up here. All roads are open with no restrictions, so it’ll be an easy drive. Our New Year’s Eve festivities will begin with our annual Torchlight parade. At 7:00 pm, our employees will come down Miracle Mile with torches in hand. Following the Torchlight Parade, we will kick off the party inside the Summit Inn. DJ Desi will provide the entertainment while we serve appetizers and give away prizes. This will all be included with party favors and a champagne toast for the admission of $20. Tickets for this 21 and […]
^^^^^ Do you see that? There is snow in our future! Forecasts are calling for up to nine inches on the mountain! Conditions next week should be ripe for more snowmaking. So we’re looking at snow on snow! It will start as rain on Thursday (great for the reservoirs!) before the temperature drops and we get glorious snow. Bear Mountain is now scheduled to open for daily operations on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8:30 am. Bear will open with Chair 1, but if conditions improve we could get Chair 9 going, as well! Keep thinking snow, it’s working!
