Mother Nature adheres to her own schedule. Luckily our snowmakers stick to theirs. We turned the snowmaking system on at about 2 pm yesterday and it ran through this morning. We will fire it up again tonight to supplement the natural snowfall. That is how we will make sure you’ll find the best conditions for skiing and riding in Southern California at our resorts. There is a saying about not liking Mondays, but from the way tomorrow is shaping up- what’s not to like? Mid-week powder days are the topic of conversation when looking back at a season and this one’s sure to come up later. Forecasters are sticking to their earlier predictions and talking about total accumulations of 10-12 inches by the time things wrap up. It’s the beginning of March and spring is only a few weeks away but don’t tell Mother Nature that! She thinks it’s the middle of winter and we’re not complaining! The most recent storm system brought us 8-11 inches of snow over the past 48 hours and today will be one of the best days of the season on the slopes. Today’s conditions are groomed packed powder with snow good coverage. Please use caution near the runs edges. We are open today from 8am-4pm for full day and 12-4pm for half day. Grab your buddies and get some packed powder laps in! If you’re looking for a little excitement, head over to Bear Mountain and check out the War of Rails finals today. Some of the best skiers in the world are here in Big Bear and battling for cash prizes and bragging rights.
Over the last several hours we received between 1 and 2 inches of new snow to blanket our slopes and the forecast predicts it will keep snowing till around 11:00 am today!
