Sunny skies are in the forecast through the rest of the week and weekend! With a mostly machine groomed packed powder surface and excellent midwinter conditions, skiing and riding at Snow Summit is the best it’s been all season. Chair 1 is closed for maintenance but Chair 2 is open and accesses the entire mountain. Get ready for this holiday weekend by purchasing your lift tickets at least one day in advance. We also have night session this Friday and Saturday night, with a bonus holiday night session on Sunday! Hwy 330/18 (the front way) and Hwy 18 (Lucerne) are open with no restrictions. Hwy 38 (Redlands) is temporarily closed until further notice.
Thanks to Mother Nature and this cold, dry weather we’ve been making snow for 42+ hours. These are the kind of conditions that allow us to make a lot of “real” snow. This is some of the best early season riding Snow Summit has seen in years and with all this snowmaking we’re excited to open more lifts and runs as soon as possible. With great snowmaking comes cold weather, the high today will be 27 degrees with possible below zero wind chill so break out your warm cozy gear. Were looking at a machine groomed packed powder to machine groomed hard pack with lots of new snowmaking. All three roads into Big Bear are open with no chain requirements. This week’s 4-6 inches of snowfall combined with around-the-clock snowmaking has made for fun packed powder conditions just in time for your Thanksgiving Holiday. In addition to Miracle Mile and Bear Bottom beginner area, Summit run is open today and Upper Westridge and ZZYZX, are expected to open tomorrow with features and Ego Trip and Chair 7 are next after that! To top off the holiday excitement, Snow Summit’s first night sessions of the season will be this Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 3pm. Bear Mountain kicks of the winter season tomorrow with Park Run! All 3 roads into Big Bear are open with no chain requirements. The runs highlighted in red are open and the runs highlighted in purple are next to open.
